Las Playas de Asturias

The Asturian Coast,
24 to 30 March

About the places to visit:

Asturias is known for its countless beaches where the limestone foothills of the Picos de Europa meet the Cantabrian Sea. Because of these characteristics, the Asturian coast treasures impressive cliffs, beaches of great beauty surrounded by impressive rocks, maritime caves, surprising "inland beaches" and a mountainous landscape with its pleasant green tones throughout the year.  On our trip we will visit some of its most photogenic beaches, with great possibilities to take interesting landscape photos and also images of great abstract beauty, thanks to the striking and colourful rock shapes.

We can enjoy ourselves in its charming coastal villages and with a little luck, photograph huge waves and striking “sea buffoons". We also travel to the inland to enjoy the views of the grandiose Picos de Europa that are usually still snow covered at this time of year.  On this trip we will also visit emblematic beaches of the Region of Cantabria and the Basque Country, with large cliffs and beautiful Flysch shapes.

About the workshops

The trips and workshops are taught by teachers with proven experience in landscape and night photography and are aimed at a wide audience; from the tourist who is interested in discovering interesting places, the amateur who wants to learn or refine his knowledge to the professional who intends to expand his photographic portfolio.

The workshops try to familiarize participants with the different theoretical and practical aspects of landscape and night photography and prepare them for different situations and possibilities in the field.

The photographic excursions are in this line, focused on learning and applying the concepts previously covered in the theoretical workshops, they also allow participants to get to know spectacular places from the natural, cultural and landscape point of view and spend a pleasant stay in them, accompanied by photographers. knowledgeable experts in the area who will be at the full disposal of attendees to answer any questions and provide appropriate advice.

The workshop also includes projections for viewing the work done by the students, in which the technical and aesthetic aspects of the images are discussed, accompanied by advice on how to improve in both aspects.

Recommended (photographic) material:

Although it is not essential to attend, it is recommended to participate with basic knowledge of photography to bring a digital camera to get more out of the workshops. As complementary materials we advise to bring a tripod, polarizing filters, gradient and neutral grey filters (of different densities), trigger cable, lens clean kit, batteries and charger, umbrella and rain cover (just in case) for the camera and front.

Final note:
The realization of the photographs depends largely on the weather of the locations. Al Andalus Photo Tour reserves the right to modify schedules and routes in case circumstances require it (eg Rains, poor condition access roads) in benefit of the participants and the photos to be taken.
To get to the photographic locations some itineraries pass through unpaved roads, normally passable for cars in normal conditions and in some cases it would be necessary to do some hiking on foot so we recommend that the participants are accustomed to walking in the nature and that they have a minimum physical condition and agility, to be able to reach the locations and enjoy them.
